Quote Initial Ideas

Idea 1
 Initial ideas for Quote

'Serene yet strong,
Majestic yet sedate,
Swift without violence,
Without terror great.'

The poem/quote has strong words such as strong, violence, terror and great and felt that these words needed to reflect there full impact, so a bold tall font i felt would reflect the meanings of these words well. In my examples i have used knockout and Portishead dummy complimented by garamond. initially i wanted to create that contrast between the words serene and strong as they are such contradicting words, Garamond gave the soft, curved serifs and gentle appeal whereas knockout and Portishead dummy are 'loud' and powerful. The contrast works quite well, or the idea works well but the type chosen needs tweaking and i haven't even considered kerning and leading.
Looking at the ideas on screen together Idea 4 seems dated my connotation of this was an old headliner in a newspaper, the tag lines that ideally drew in the public. Although this could represent london as a whole of the history when put into context, but at this precise moment there is no link to the thames only the wording in the poem/quote.
Idea 5 is one i think i will develop, the idea of contrasting type to reflect the words works well and conveys the right message whereas using the strong Knockout is too in your face and I only could pick out the negative words, it needs the contrast to identify the two different meanings.
